Plantain / Vazhakkai Fry

Green Plantain Veggie

Green plantain can be cooked in different ways among which the crispy ones are always yumm for the kids. But anyhow stir fry is the key.


Ingredients:

Green Plantain - 2 nos
Oil for sauteing - 4 tsp
Salt - 2 tsp (to taste)
Chilli Powder - 1 tsp (to taste)

Procedure:

  • Peel off the skin from the plantains. Slice them in thin circles.Though it wont be in proper circles.

  • Heat a heavy bottom flat pan and add oil in it.
  • Once the oil is hot, add the sliced plantain chips. Always maintain slow medium heat.
  • Use a flat spatula to twist and turn without breaking the slices.

  • Keep on turning for every 3 minutes.
  • When the plantain is half cooked sprinkle some salt.

  • It will take 15-20 minutes to cook crispy chips. Finally add some chilli powder and mix them well.

  • Plantain fry is ready to go as the rice side or as a snack.
